i think i have reverse seasonal affective disorder. yes, it's a thing.
soon i will get to wish everyone a happy "'berday". it's a family tradition of celebrating the beginning of the 'ber months. but it's purely ceremonial as september really doesn't belong in the 'ber months. september is pretty much as boring as august - though it does offer the promise of october.
october! now there's something to look forward too!
last night SNP and i discussed our general feeling of boredom. we think it might not have been a good idea to go to d.c. afterall (which was great fun, by the way. but hella hot) because upon returning, the boringness of august has been further highlighted. it doesn't help that i've been sequestered to the office this week. sitting in an office all day, everyday is murder.
i miss school. i miss being challenged by new ideas and digesting new theories and that feeling of being turned inside out by what i am learning. i also miss not boring myself when i talk.
point of gratitude for the day: every time SNP and i go walking anywhere (which is a lot, as he lives downtown) he will always, always walk between me and traffic. he doesn't make a big production out of it, he just does it. there will be times that i end up on the outer edge of the sidewalk and he quietly slips back in between me and traffic. it's a small thing but it makes me smile every single time.

I'm so charmed when David does that, too! Until him, I think the only person I knew who did it was my dad. I think it's a nicer, subtler, old-school chivalrous gesture than forever racing to hold doors open, for example.
